Day #4 vamos a la playa

Yesterday we went to the aquarium and i saw a lot of sea creatures like the sea otters, sea lions, jellyfish, anacondas, puffins, and some other animals. The first animals we saw were the sharks there were also some mantarays in there i kind of got scared. We alsow disected a squid.

The last blog: Freddy

Today is my last day to blog which sadly means we all have to leave in a few hours from now. it will soon be time to say goodbye and depart from the place where so many friends were made and so many memories created. I am going to miss the institute very much but I will still be able to see all the new people that I have created deep and amazing relationships with.

We have done so many activities and going to Newport was one of the greatest experiences that I will never forget, but let mestart from the begining.

i wasn`t going to come to the institute because i thought it would take time out of my summer. I didnt know what it was and what the purpose was for. my friend told me i should go and decide that it would be worth giving it a try. I am so happy that I made the choice to come becuase without the institute the est week of my summer would not bepossible. I got here kind of scared and timid because i onlyknew a few people from school but not ones that i wouldn`t consider "friends". That first day i had already started talking to new people made some closer relationships and built even stronger bonds amongst the people I already knew. by the next day i was almostcompletely out of my shell and trying to be me and trying to have a great time.

Day #2: problem solving

Hi! today I had lots of fun everybody in our group would do this challenges that required to think a lot, to work in a team and help each other. The object of this challenges were to understand the topics developing relationship, potential, communication etc...For some of the challenges we needed time to think about what we could do. Like in this one that we needed to fit all of our group inside a rope and try to do the rope smaller. Also there was this other challenge that four people had to first sit on four chairs and lay down on the person in the back of us then others from our team would get the chairs out and we would be standing an d laying in your partners lap. I did that ones and at first I got scared I thought that I was going to fall. There I am in the picture it was fun and got me tired.

Maggy

Maggy is the name today was monday it was a fun day and it was the challenge course were I learned about my abilities and hot to work in a group with comunication,my best thing was to climb.I think the best thing was in this day was the challenge course because i enjoyed more that activities than other ones.

Margarita day 3

Today was awsome first I thought that today was going to be a really boring day because in the schedule said that we suppossed to be all the day in a classroom but the thing was that I didn't notice that was going to be fun.I could said that specially my group was a pretty good fun day because they plan a fun activities for us and I love to have challenges because it help me to understand and learn more about the hardest things because it is what it is! and they just give to us an examples of what is actually the life.when mi group did an activitie that was to take a person with just to fingers I really thought that was was impossible and crazy to take a person besides that all the group could take it but with just two fingers and when it was my turn it was so goood to feel the trust on your grooup because I did it and I trust in them and felt really good with the help that they gave to me and felt with more experience now that i did it.

HOLA: El dia de hoy martes 24 de agosto me parecio un exelente dia, yo pienso q' cada dia es mejor y menos aburrido o tal vez nos etamos acoplando mas y sobre todo estamos mas unidos y trabajamos mas en equipo... Today was super fun during the challenge course and I was able to come out of my comfort zone a little bit. when i first got their I was excited and nervous at the same time because I had never been up in the air before which was extremely scary. After the challenge course I was shocked and surprised because I actually did two of the obstacles that were the most challenging for me. I learned about trusing my partners and to be able to make that step to come out your comfort zone.

Challange Course: Freddy

Today is Monday and we got to go to go to the OSU challange course. I was very excited, anxious, and pumped for the course. When I got there I was a little bit intimidated because of the actual height that I would have to climb. We started with teamworking excercises that were frustrating, interesting, fun, and very educational. My favorite activity that helped on our teamworking, trust, and communication skills was the land mines maze. Before we got to the ropes and climbing I made the goal to complete every challange that I attempted. It was nerve-racking but very exciting. Afterwards I was very tired from all the adrenaline surging through my body. I learnt to trust my peers more, communicate, the importance of teamwork, and learned to overcome certain fears.

The hardest challange was one that was very physical and had to do alot to do with team work. My parner Humberto and I worked really hard to conquer the unstable, oversized ladder. We had to help and encourage eachother to have any chance at all to get to the first rung.

My favorite challange was the one were I had to climb up a straight pole and jump for a bar. It was very freightening but an amazing experience that i will remember for a long time.

Day #2 challenge course Jennifer

Hi my name is Jennifer and I am the one in The Blue T-shirt. Today I did something I never thought I would ever do, I crossed a trunk in the air. When I heard that we were going to do something called the Challenge course I thought that it was going to be just like in the T.V. shows like wipe out, but I was wrong. What we were going to do was to clime up a pole and walk across a trunk. At first I was scared because I have never done that and because I was afraid I would fall. When it was my turn I was nervous. After I got of I was proud of my self for at lest trying.

Hey my name is Dianeli and so far everything is going smooth and today was a good day. I had fun playing kickball and a game called toro toro. The best part was that i got to meet new people.I'am here because i want to learn something new from this experience and to tell everybody back home of the new things i learned from bieng here. Also to improve make new friends and be more social. I hope to learn and get a lot of advice from every person here. I would like to improve on my leadership skills so when I go back to school I will be more open to new things such as clubs.

Who I Am: Freddy

My name is Freddy and I am an Oregon resident. I got an opportunity to have an amazing experience and I am glad I took the chance. I never knew a program like this exsisted. I got an applicationin in the mail for the Oregon Migrant Leadership Institute and decided to sign up for it to see what it was all about. Later I learned that it was more important then just having fun and doing different activities for our enterntainment. Even though we have done so many fun activities; we have also had many things that has furthered my education and its barely the first day. We have played toro-toro, kickball, experencied the university food, had our team leaders talk about their experencies in college, and lastly have met so many new people.

Nothing is guaranteed in life and that is why I try to live my life by making many memories.
